Frequently asked questions
-
ARE YOU THE RIGHT THERAPIST FOR ME?I know that therapy can be a very challenging process. My approach is to be compassionate, understanding, and non-judgemental but also authentic and goal-oriented. My primary aim is to help you develop specific skills which allow you to improve your well-being and solve your future problems by yourself. Together we will use concrete techniques and tools, which you will further practice yourself through regular home assignments.
-
WHAT’S YOUR BACKGROUND?Please see my 'About Me' page.
-
WHAT TYPES OF ISSUES DO YOU WORK WITH?As a Counsellor and psychotherapist, I commonly work with people struggling with depression, anxiety, sleep problems, procrastination, lack of motivation, burnout, problems in establishing or maintaining romantic or social relationships, life crises, and more.
-
WHAT TYPES OF ISSUES DO YOU NOT WORK WITH?I don’t treat psychoses, depression with psychotic symptoms, and severe eating disorders.
-
IS THERAPY CONFIDENTIAL?Yes, absolutely. I won’t disclose any information from our sessions, unless you specifically tell me otherwise or it’s likely you’ll be a serious threat to yourself or others.
-
DO I NEED TO PREPARE FOR OUR FIRST SESSION?There is nothing you need to prepare. However, some things can make our meeting more effective. For example, you could think about which specific results you want to achieve while working with me.
-
HOW MUCH DOES THERAPY COST?The 50-minute sessions are £50.00 per session. The hourly rate is based on the amount of money I need to spend on my expenses, psychotherapy training, clinical supervision, and insurance. This price includes the time for the session itself but also preparation- and post-processing time, phone and email support. You can pay at the latest on the day of the scheduled session or pay in advance for several sessions.
-
WHAT HAPPENS DURING A TYPICAL THERAPY SESSION?We usually discuss reflections on the previous week, talk about your current problems, and establish what we want to work on during the session. At the end of each session, I will summarise the most important points of the session and ask for your feedback. We will also discuss possibilities for the next week.
-
HOW LONG DOES THERAPY LAST?The duration of therapy depends on the complexity of the problems we are working on, usually taking between 3 to 12 months. We'll usually meet once every week or two, with sessions lasting 50 minutes. Toward the end of therapy, we will gradually reduce the frequency of our meetings. Three to six months after the last session, we can arrange an additional meeting to evaluate the therapeutic success.
-
CAN I CONTACT YOU BETWEEN OUR SESSIONS?Yes of course. Between sessions clients can email me and I aim to reply within 24 hours.
-
WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION POLICY?If you can't attend a scheduled appointment, please let me know 24 hours in advance so we can reschedule. Cancellations at least 24 hours in advance are free of charge. Later cancellations will be charged the full cost of the session.
-
WHICH PAYMENT METHODS DO YOU ACCEPT?I accept payments via bank transfer.
-
I CAN'T FIND A THERAPY SPOT THAT FITS MY SCHEDULE.That’s okay, just contact me with your preferred time and date and I will try to work something out.
